The Nursery is in the secure grounds of Keepers Cottage, which has large gardens and ample parking space to the side and rear. We are registered for 64 children aged up to 5 years old, we have spacious area’s for each age group, 0-2 years, 2-3 years and 3-5 years. Our primary aim is to provide a safe, nurturing environment, and we strongly believe children thrive whilst learning through play and exploration. Children learn through play, and a child's play is their work. |
We aim to set good foundations and give the children varied experiences of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We anticipate to develop the skills your child will need both for school and later life, yet meet their individual needs now. There are seven areas of the EYFS. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive, these 3 prime areas are:
The other 4 specific areas are: • literacy; • mathematics; • understanding the world; and • expressive arts and design. All of the outside areas in the setting are safe, inspirational areas for outdoor play and give children a natural environment for them to play and learn. |
The key person plays an essential role in supporting the emotional well-being of the children in their care. In doing so they take responsibility for those aspects of the child’s day which have the greatest impact on their well-being, these include personal care routines – nappy changing, toileting, rest times and meal times, these care routines provide special times to build up the secure attachments which underpin healthy emotional, social and cognitive development.
