Curriculum

As in all primary schools, we follow the National Curriculum. However, we feel that we deliver it in a particularly creative and interesting manner! We strive to make the curriculum in all subjects ‘come alive’ for the children and we cater for all individual needs and strengths.

The introduction of the National Literacy & Numeracy Strategies and the Excellence and Enjoyment white-paper have had a huge impact on our teaching. At times the teaching of skills, particularly in Mathematics, is completely different to the ways in which we were taught. We will always be willing to help you if you find our ways of teaching confusing.

Some of the National Curriculum subjects are taught discretely but more often are taught in a cross-curricular way. For example we may choose to use Drama to help the children to experience an element of History or develop understanding of a Geographical issue whilst developing skills in ICT.
