Our IPC topic - Celebrations
In IPC our topic is “Celebrations” and we will be learning about celebrations from a range of cultures. We will plan our own celebration and design party hats and invitations. We will be listening to the music Carnival of the Animals and make masks for our own Carnival Parade.
In English we are focusing on checking our work to make sure that we have used capital letters and full stops in every sentence. We are beginning to use other punctuation such as commas, exclamation marks and speech marks. We will be extending our sentences with the connectives and, but, so, because and we will continue to develop our understanding of verbs, nouns and adjectives. We will be using more ambitious vocabulary in our writing. We will be studying a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts including, poetry, fantasy stories and instruction texts.
We have a 20 minute phonics lesson every day.
In Maths we will be looking at Multiplication and Division. We will learn to count in 2s, 5s and 10s and we will learn our 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables. We will learn how to divide by sharing practically. We will work out multiplication and division calculations. We will develop our mental maths skills through daily activities and use these to solve mathematical problems.
We will be looking at light. We will think about different sources of light and how it is used in Celebrations.
RE In RE this term we will be learning about Celebrations in different religions
PE "Wake up shake up " and team games using balls and small aparatus.
