Governor Profiles

Below is a short personal statement from our Governors.........

Lynda Innocent - LA Governor

I am a qualified accountant who works with computer systems at Derby City Council. I was appointed by the Local Authority to be a governor and have been a member of the Governing Body since September 2006 and chair of the Governing Body since 2009.

I have one child who attends Walter Evans and wanted to contribute to the success of the school.

Peter McCrea - Chair of Governors

I am a Chartered Surveyor, Arbitrator and Adjudicator, in private practice in Derby. I am a member of various local and National Standards and Disciplinary Committees, and have been involved in a variety of non-profit making organisations including Derwent Living and Derwent Stepping Stones.

I was elected Parent Governor in Summer 2009 and have two children in school.

I became a Governor to represent the interests of parents and carers on the Governing Body, as part of a partnership with the Church, Local Authority and School, to improve and enrich the lives of our children whilst at Walter Evans and help to prepare them for later life.

Rev Chris Dyer

Ex Officio

I started my working life as a secondary school teacher and have always been committed to education, having also worked as Diocesan Youth Advisor in the Derby Diocese.

I am pleased to have been on this Governing Body since I arrived in 2006 as the vicar is ex-officio.

Louise Owen-McGee

Foundation Governor

I am a professionally qualified graphic designer and business manager. I am a member of St Matthews Church in Darley Abbey and I currently work as the Creative Manager for MHA (formerly known as Methodist Homes for the Aged) a nationwide charity who provide care services to older people.

My daughter attends Walter Evans and I believe passionately in the importance of quality education.

 Joanne Dickie

Foundation Governor

I have three children, Yasmin and Cameron currently at Walter Evans and Jemima due to start Nursery in September 2011. Prior to having my family I worked at HSBC for 18 years. My family and I worship at St Matthew's Church so when the vacancy for Foundation Governor became available I thought that this would be a great opportunity to give my help to Walter Evans.

Steve Clivery

Foundation Governor

Hello, my name is Steve Clivery. My wife and I live in Darley Abbey with our two sons, the eldest of whom attends Walter Evans. We are part of the congregation at St Edmund's Church in Allestree.

My background is 17 years in the Financial Services Sector where I have undertaken a variety of different roles.

My motivation to act as a Foundation Governor comes from my desire to do something more for the local community.

I am committed to ensuring that Walter Evans harnesses the efforts and energy of parents, carers and staff to create the best possible environment for the benefit of all children.

Diane Troman - Vice Chair

Foundation Governor

I have been employed as a Human Resources Manager for many years requiring me to have a professional approach.  I have excellent communication skills with a fair and logical approach.  One of my strengths is challenging the status quo and looking for new ways of doing things, when it is appropriate of course.  I also have a good sense of humour.

The values and aims of the school are obviously very important to me and my family.  I feel that I can add value to this very important role with my skills and experience.

I have recently started a career break so as to be able to dedicate more time to support my children’s education at Walter Evans with in Year 1 and Rosie with Mrs McNeil in pre-school.  The role of Foundation Governor will help me to do this as well as make a positive contribution to the school.
