Hello and welcome to the
‘Friends of Malmesbury Primary School’!

We are a registered charity, run by parents, with one purpose – to fundraise for our great school by organising events that bring parents, children and teachers together to have fun and raise money at the same time.

Anyone who has been to the Summer Fete, the Christmas Family Festival or a school disco will know what an exciting addition to the term these events can be, but what you may not know is how the money raised has gone to help the school.

The curtains in the main hall, the school piano, the outdoor classrooms and the decorative totem poles were all funded with money raised through the Friends (formerly the MPSA) as well as joint funding of the new laptops bought by the school earlier this year.

The Friends committee and helpers at all our events are parent volunteers.  We also get valuable help from teachers, support staff and pupils in Years 5 and 6 (and sometimes younger!).  We simply couldn’t run these events without this help and it really is true that ‘many hands make light work’.  Click here to see a calendar of events for this year.

The core committee aims to meet once a term advertised via the school newsletter and ParentMail.  Anybody is welcome to come along and take part.  We also make requests for help with events so look out for volunteer slips on the newsletters!  Click here to see ways you can help.

If you have any questions or want to offer your services please contact us via the School Office, e-mail corriedarker@btinternet.com, call or text me on 01666 825866/07751 263202 or just grab one of us at an event!

Ways you can help
  •  Join the committee!  We meet roughly once a term to plan events and it is the perfect platform to have your say in how the Friends raises and spends its money.  Contact Corrie Darker for more details or come along to a meeting.
  • Become a volunteer!  We are always looking for people to help man stalls, set up and tidy up after events, wrap gifts etc.  If you think you can give some time and join our ever needy volunteering team then please contact me with your details or look for the slips on the newsletters.  Basically, if there is an event coming up we need help so don’t be shy!
  • Do your on-line shopping here!  If you shop with one of the Giving Machine on-line retailers then please use the link below to get to the Giving Machine website.  The school will receive a % of your spend without it costing you a penny more.

  • Recycling!  We have arrangements with both Bag2School (link to www.bag2school) and Recycool (link to www.recycool.org) to help you rid yourselves of your old clothes and your old printer cartridges, mobile phones, CDs and DVDs.  Look out for posters and newsletters for more information.  We are also looking at running a similar scheme through Terracycle (link to www.terracycle.net)
  • Donating!  One of our biggest fundraisers is the Summer Raffle, drawn at the School Fete.  Are you or your company able to donate a high quality gift to offer as a prize?  Past prizes have included weekends away, spa gifts, family activity tickets and, of course, Dysons!  Contact us if you think you can help.
