Hollybank Special School in Mirfield is one of only a few special schools in West Yorkshire to provide specialised education, therapy and care for children from 5 years of age through to 19.  Every young person attending Hollybank has a physical disability and most also have additional complex needs.

We work in partnership with parents and have a whole team of people who provide flexible and personalised support for both the young person and their family, so that lives are enriched through having quality time at school and also quality time at home – the best of both worlds.  The links will explain more about what we do and how we do it.

Some children travel to us from home each day and some stay with us overnight for varying periods tailored to the needs of each young person and their family. As well as a special school, Hollybank also has a children’s home open for 52 weeks of the year and all our staff team, including the therapists and nurses are employed by Hollybank Trust.  We are therefore very flexible and can respond quickly to most needs.

Our special school has around 30 pupils, split between school and post-16.  The classes have from 6-8 pupils, each with their own teacher and support staff.  Often this support is on an individual basis and includes working with our own multi-disciplinary team and the residential staff on shared aims.

Throughout post-16 we plan carefully for the next stage in a young person’s life and make sure that they have a seamless transition, usually within Hollybank Trust.
