. Friends of Edmund Waller (FEW) is the Home School Association of Edmund Waller Primary School (some schools call it the Parents Teachers Association). FEW’s aims are to:
All parents and carers are automatically members of FEW and can have their say on how FEW is run. FEW is a registered charity and mainly exists to raise funds for extra curricular activities, materials, resources and equipment for the school. We raise money through activities that involve the school community and the wider community, such as our Winter and Summer Fairs, discos, book fairs etc and through applying for grants from funding bodies such as BBC Children in Need and the Lottery. FEW has an annually elected committee that takes care of day-to-day business. This is made up of a Chair and Vice Chair (or two Co-Chairs), Secretary and Treasurer. In addition there are 12 non-portfolio committee members and representatives from the teaching staff. FEW is a team that recognises and appreciates the wealth of skills, experience and talent amongst the parents and carers in the school. The FEW committee meets regularly throughout the school year. In addition to these meetings FEW has open meetings for anyone and everyone to attend and these are usually in preparation for big events like the Summer and Winter Fairs. We produce regular newsletters in an effort to keep all parents and carers up to date with what we are doing. Everyone actively involved in FEW works on a voluntary basis. Many of the parents have jobs, some full time – parents give what time they can and all contributions, great and small, are always welcomed and appreciated. The door is always open for people to get involved. Please give your details to the school office and we will contact you.
