Our work

Our Class Celebration will be on
Wednesday, 27th February 2013 at 2.40 pm.


 

We have been investigating different magnets to see which one was the strongest.

Year 3 have been looking at rhythms in music and had a musical time using the different instruments.

Year 3 have been observing how shadows move during the day.

We spent the afternoon investigating bubbles.  We had so much fun finding out which washing up liquid was the bubbliest.

 

Year 3 have learnt lots about instructions.  We followed instructions and made our own balancing birds and rice crispy cakes.

 

We have been chocolate tasting to see if packaging influences us.  We found out that packaging influenced the way we thought.

Year 3 had a wonderful time at St Helens World of Glass.  We found out lots of things about glass.

Well done Year 3 for a lovely Class Celebration.

Year 3 have been having fun learning about shadows.  We made lots of different shapes with our shadows and also shadow puppets.

Here we are with some of our snakes we made for Chinese New Year.

We had a creative afternoon creating our mythical creatures out of clay.  We have been learning all about myths and legends as our topic in literacy.

 

We have been investigating different materials to see how durable they are.  We found out that paper was the least durable, wood, pastic and rubber were the most durable.

We enjoyed making our 'story in a box'.

We have been learning all about telling the time.  We had a superb time making a human clock to help us tell the time.

 

We have been exploring our school during our Science lessonlooking for different materials.

Year 3 have had a lovely time taking part in lots of Christmas activities.

 

We have had a lovely time designing our own sandwich.
We made our sandwiches and then we got the chance to eat them. Yum, Yum!



Today we looked at which rocks were permeable.
We discovered that slate was the least permeable and that chalk was the most permeable.



Year 3 have been learning all about Judaism.



We have been looking at lots of different rocks in Science.
We looked at which rocks were the most durable.

 
 
 
In Design and Technology we had an interesting time tasting different types of bread.  We looked very closely at the bread before we tasted it and thought about which bread we would like for a sandwich.

 
 
 
Year 3 have been learning all about different types of soil.  We even made our very own soil profile.

 
We had lots of fun sorting odd and even numbers in a variety of challenges.

 
Year 3 have been learning about measuring.  We had a lovely time measuring each other and comparing our measurements.
 

 
We have been learning about man made and natural rocks.  We looked closely at different types of rocks and described their texture and colour.
 

 
Year 3 invented their own games in PE.

 
We enjoyed a lovely walk up to our local shops.  We asked the shopkeepers questions about how they commute to work and where they travel from.

 

The results from our eggshell experiment were that blackcurrant juice had the worst effect on our teeth.

In Science we have conducted an experiment to see which drink has the worst affect on our teeth.  We used coco cola, juice and water and placed an egg shell in each to act as our teeth.  We will check our results next week.  Watch this space.

In Literacy, Year 3 have been learning all about settings.  We made our very own view finders and had a look at the setting of St John Bosco.

 

We have been learning all about healthy eating and teeth.  We had a look at the different teeth we have and what we use them for.  We even made our very own mouth with incisors, canines and molars.
