Year 11 Castleford High School Girls Rugby League Team Qualify for their 5th National Cup Final
Castleford High School year 11 girl’s team have had yet another fantastic year. They have qualified for the Carnegie National Cup final for the 5th year in a row, won the Wakefield and were finalists in the Yorkshire Cup final.
The Year 11 Carnegie Champion Schools National Festival saw Castleford High School score 13 tries and concede only 1 during 6 matches. An outstanding performance from Castleford High's Jodie Wilkinson who scored a resounding 5 of the 10 tries and Aleisha O’neil who scored 28 points in the 6 games. The other scores for Castleford were Darcy Wiggins, Ellie Smith, Aleisha O’neil, Mara Innes & Chelsea Goodenough.
Along the way Castleford put in some excellent performances against very good opposition. Castleford’s first game saw them come out 10-0 winners over Cardinal Newman with both tries coming from the influential Jodie Wilkinson and a conversion by Aleisha O’neil. The next game saw a rematch of the Yorkshire Cup final with both Castleford and Settle drawing a blank after both defences were outstanding. The remaining 4 matches saw Castleford beat Feltham College 18-6, Bullers Wood 6-0, Wade deacon 18-0 and Tregib 24-0 to reach the National Cup Final.
The final will be played on Wednesday 4th May 2011 at the Odsal Stadium, home of Engage Super League side Bradford Bulls. Castleford will be looking for their 5th successive National Cup win.
