Values Education - A Guide for Parents
We provide a framework for living, tightly woven into the positive ethos of our school.
With the cooperation and support of parents, teachers, support staff and governors we aim to nurture our children as calm, happy, focussed individuals who respect their world and are empowered to develop and nurture their inherent creativity.
Our Values Education programme involves the continuous investigation of 22 positive values throughout a two-year cycle supported by the development of reflective practice.
We aim for good strong social relationships and highly developed self-esteem resulting in respect for others and the environment, within a coherent school community.
Values Education lies at the heart of our Behaviour Policy. It provides a solid foundation enabling our pupils to make informed choices by reflecting, thinking and understanding. It also gives us a common vocabulary, which we all understand, helping us to deal with behavioural and emotional issues in a positive and supportive manner.
Our calm, reflective approach means that aggression, retaliation and anger are quickly curtailed or avoided. Issues are discussed in a logical, positive manner and solutions are reached with mutual agreement and understanding.

Each of the chosen values is investigated by the whole school community. Parents are informed and guided through the programme on a regular basis so that they are able to play an active part in discussions and investigations. This is a very important aspect of our Home/School Partnership.
