School Uniform
There is a voluntary school uniform consisting of a Burgundy jumper or sweatshirt, a white polo shirt or blouse, together with grey skirt or trousers. The girls wear a red and white stripe gingham dress in the summer. Sweatshirts, jumpers, T-shirts all bearing the school logo, may be purchased from Any Sports shop, Yate shopping centre. This uniform is not obligatory but is worn by most of the children. It does help towards creating a sense of community.
We do expect children to wear appropriate clothing for a working school day, combining a tidy appearance with practicality and washability! Party type dresses or casual wear such as jeans and garish T-shirts would not be in keeping with the working needs of the children or the image of the school.
It is important that children should be as independent as possible from the start. Please avoid complex fastenings or those too stiff for little fingers. Buttons, bows and laces can often be avoided by keeping garments simple.
Items for Sale
The school sells the following items of clothing at cost price: Book bags, PE bags and sun caps.
Forest Sessions
We ask that children have a pair of wellington boots in school for wet and muddy activities, especially when we have sessions in the forest.
Safety
For safety and security, children should not wear jewellery. Pierced ears should have small studs only, whilst rings, etc. should be avoided.
PE Kit
Children will need plimsolls, for outdoor work, shorts and a white
T-shirt. The slip-on type of plimsoll is better for the younger children. Older children will also need suitable clothing and footwear for the playing field in winter, (football boots, old shoes or trainers, track suit or old jumper). Kit should be kept in a suitable bag.
Label everything clearly so that none of your possessions is added to the mountain of lost property.
Art and Craft
An old shirt suitably adapted with Velcro or an apron is a good idea for art and technology work.
