Headteacher's welcome
Welcome to Lethbridge Primary School.
Lethbridge is a well established school in the heart of Old Town. The original junior school building dates from 1890 but with
our modern additions we are well equipped for the 21st century.
Our aim is to be a school where children reach high standards within a caring and friendly atmosphere. Learning the basic skills is a fundamental necessity but we believe that education should not stop there. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and we strive to make it exciting and engaging for the children. The world is a wonderful and exciting place and learning about it should match this.
Lethbridge became an academy in July 2011. This step was taken because we as a school believed that it would enable us to serve our community better. It gives the school greater freedom to choose the way in which it spends its money and to target this, and the school’s curriculum for the benefit of our pupils in our community. To this end we work very closely with our local secondary school, Commonweal, with many links from governor level downwards.
At this crucial stage in their lives children are eager to discover and learn. Our task is to enable this and give the children the tools and knowledge to enable them to continue learning throughout their lives. At the same time we must teach our pupils how to live and work together, to learn about themselves and others and to foster those life skills which will make them citizens of the future.
We feel that Lethbridge is a great place to work and learn. This website should reflect our aspirations and our success in achieving that goal.
