Walk the History of the Games
To help celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games, schools across West Yorkshire are being invited to take part in the "Walk the History of the Games" school challenge, to encourage walking, scooting and cycling to school.
Schools across West Yorkshire will compete against each other on a journey through the history of the Games to reach London 2012, by 1st of June. Schools will start their journey in Athens in 1896 and call at every Olympic host city to reach London in time for the 2012 Games.
Each week we will enter the total number of pupils who have travelled to school by walking, cycling or scooting. The pupil tally will automatically be converted into 'Games Miles' on a special accumulator on the 'Walk the History of the Games' web page and take us across the globe on a virtual journey through the history of the games. Pupils can only accumulate mileage if they walk, cycle or scoot to school so the more pupils do this, the quicker we will travel through all the Olympic host cities throughout history and reach the finish line.
