Welcome to Science! - Teaching and Learning
This subject enables pupils to develop an awareness of their environment and their place within it. This awareness is to extended as far as the pupil is able from being aware of themselves and their immediate environment through to an appreciation of science in the natural and man made world.
The area is important as it contributes to a broad, balanced, differentiated and relevant curriculum. The range of experiences and achievements will contribute to the enrichment of their lives, according to individual needs, abilities and aptitudes.
Pupils will develop understanding and knowledge of scientific ideas, processes and skills, through exploration of the environment, living things, materials, objects and events, and will relate these to everyday experiences.
They will learn about ways of thinking and of finding out about and communicating their ideas. They will explore values and attitudes in science.
