Parental Communication

At Children's Corner we appreciate the difficulty of leaving your child whilst you go out to work. We aim to provide a shared care whether your child attends only 1 day or full time. It is important to us to feedback to you at the end of the day and to ensure you have all the informatio you need.

Daily feedback

All children under the age of 2 will have a daily report sheet. This gives you details of what your child has eaten and how much, the frequency and length of their sleeps, toileting and the activities your child has been involved in. A member of staff will run through this sheet with you upon collection of your child.

For children over the age of 2 feedback is given verbally. We will let you know what your child has eaten and how much, if they have slept and how long for and any additional information which may occur throughout the day. parents may request a written report sheet if they so wish.

Learning Journeys

An individual Learning Journey is kept for each child during their time at nursery. This is a shared document between yourselves and the nursery and contains observations about your child's development, pieces of art work and photographs. All entries are dated to show progression and development through their time with us. We do encourage parents to contribute to these themselves, they are a shared document and it is lovely to see what your child is up to outside of nursery. A sheet will be provided monthly to allow you to keep us up to date about what your child has been doing whilst not in nursery.

We hope that parents will find this a memorable keepsake of their child's time with us. This is also an excellent record for your child's reception class teacher to assess his/her progress at school entry.

Reports and Parents evenings

You can expect to reveive a settling in report within 6 weeks of your child starting at nursery. This is a very brief report that highlights how the child has settled and the bonds they have begun to make.

Annual progress reports are done for all children, these are usually done in June and coincide with our parents evening. A copy of this report will be given to you and a second copy will be put in your child's learning journey.

Our parents evenings are held in July, these evenings give parents a chance to chat with their child's keyworker regarding their report. It is also an opportunity to meet other parents who use the nursery. We try to make the evening a sociable event including a short presentation on current issues from Nic, our Operations Manager.
