Does the School Council make a difference?
Yes!
It enables the children to have a VOICE and to take ownership of how our school is run.
How do we know what is going on in the School Council?
Every time School Council meets, they write down what they talk about. This is called the ‘minutes’. The class representative then discusses the points in Class Council.
Representatives from Year 6 feedback on School Council decisions to children in Reception and Year 1.
Boy's Toilet
The School Council has recently been influential in the idea of having a boy’s toilet in Rosen Building. For too long, the year 4 -6 boys had to travel across the playground to Blume building if they wanted to go to the toilet. The children brought this up at one of the School Council meetings and where this was discussed and now Mr Smith has taken this on board and has done something about it.
There is now a new boy’s toilet on the top floor of Rosen Building courtesy of the School Council fitted in blue and white decor and it even has light sensors to save energy. They have thought of everything! No more running across the playground to the other building for the boys thanks to the School Council!
