Membership to St Polycarp’s School PTA is automatic for every parent of our school children and staff. By getting involved with the PTA it helps us to contribute towards our children’s education.  There is no joining fee and no obligation to do anything.  All offers of help are welcome - be it an hour a week or an hour a year!

The principal aim of the PTA is of course “fun”draising and we have regular and one-off events throughout the school year.  These give children, parents and teachers alike the chance to have some fun and get to know one another.

The most popular events include: Quiz Nights, Christmas and Summer Fairs, Children’s Discos and Cake Sales.

These social activities contribute vital funds for the school, which have a big impact on the children’s school lives. The money we raise goes towards:

  • Imaginative solutions to improve everyday school life
  • Encouraging and supporting environmental projects
  • Promoting a healthy lifestyle
  • Supporting music, art and sports.

The PTA works closely with the headmistress and all the staff to ensure that all monies raised are used in the most effective way. We regularly spend money on IT consumables, teacher wish lists (anything from digital cameras to xylophones) and hymn books for Year 3 pupils.

As well as fundraisers, the PTA also provides support to the school, particularly on occasions when refreshments are required – for example the Year 6 Leavers Party. The PTA also pays for a touring pantomime to visit the school each Christmas.

Detailed financial information is available on request.

Get Involved – Any time that you can offer will make a difference to your children’s school life. Any donations or sponsorship leads are gratefully received. We always need help with the many fundraising events over the year and welcome any new ideas / suggestions.

Meetings – We meet as and when required but usually about every half term and everyone is welcome!  Meetings are usually held in the Parish Hall but details can always be found on the PTA notice board which is by the School Office.  In an effort to be as green and eco friendly as possible most business is done by email so sign up for the PTA emailing list now (contact: Yyvonne Bergman)
