In the next few weeks we will be posting examples of students work in the form of images and short video clips which will illustrate the types and range of work our students undertake. You will see some excellent and outstanding work from all ages and abilities.

Below are 3 Computer Games written by Jaz Varley, Alex Watson, and Tim Wilson as part of their assignment work for a Computer Games Programming Unit in their A Level course, all 3 have applied to University to study various aspects of Computer Gaming. In the last few years 6 students have gone on to study Games Design, Graphics and Programming, last year our first Computer Games Designer graduated from Staffordshire University. We are continuing to developing this aspect of ICT at Parkside, we have recently being doing simple games design in year 8. Did you know that the Computer Gaming / Digital Media sector is the third largest section of the UK economy!
The games have the Theme of Lego: Dr Who Time Lord, the students had to create a one level demonstration game with all the bells and whistles. You can play each game by clicking on the appropriate image.

Here are two further examples of Year 13 work from Matthew Baines and Jaz Varley, for their Animation Unit they had to create a 45 second animation.They have used two different techniques; Jaz has used a graphics tablet to create her animation segments and then animated them in Flash. On the other hand Matthew created his using a digital stop motion technique - similar to Wallace & Grommit. When their work was assessed by the Visiting Moderator it was commended as being outstanding! So here they are:

Jaz has secured a place at Teeside University to study Computer Animation and Matthew is going to Staffordshire University to study Computer Forensics.
