About Us

The present building was opened in October 1969 as a Voluntary Controlled Junior School and has had two classroom extensions since then. The school was first established in 1895, as Soundwell Church of England School. The Infant School stayed at the original site in Pembroke Road and finally moved to the present site a few years ago. The School is situated in the Parish of Soundwell in the Borough of Kingswood, South Gloucestershire.

The school has extensive grounds and the main building consists of twelve classrooms, ICT suite, library and hall together with the administration block and kitchen. The building and grounds are well maintained and the Governors have a rolling programme of continual internal re-decoration. We have our own well fenced playground and field, as well as attractive flowerbeds and shrubs. We continue to enhance the school grounds developing shaded areas and conservation area. This is part-funded by our active PTA.

We have policies related to all aspects of school life, including all the subjects of the National Curriculum - you are welcome to have copies of any - just ask either the Secretary or Headteacher.

We hope that the further details and information in our prospectus will give an accurate and wide ranging view of what St. Stephen's Junior School has to offer your child.
