George Washington Wrestling is dedicated to teaching and promoting the sport of collegiate wrestling. The sport encourages student athletes to maintain physical health, build character, set goals, and develop sportsmanship, self-confidence, and positive attitudes through academic achievement, dedication, persistence, and hard work.
Tuesdays 3:00-4:30 weightlifting and 4:30-5:30 wrestling basics
Thursdays 2:00-3:30 weightlifting
Saturdays 8:30-10:00 wrestling basics and conditioning
Saturday scrimmages against other schools beginning in October
November 11, 2011 through February 18, 2012
Monday through Friday practices
Thursday dual and tri wrestling meets
Study Hall one hour at least once a week
Participation in the team fundraiser
Optional (but highly recommended)
DPS Wrestling Clinic Friday after Thanksgiving
Spring and summer wrestling camps
Olympic Training Center visits
In addition to wrestlers, the team is looking for managers to track stats, make/post fliers, write articles for the school newsletters and newspapers, take photos/video of competitions, and manage a team website, fundraisers, travel and equipment.
Athletes are encouraged to attend preseason practices and scrimmages. Practices are open to parents. There is a Parents Meeting scheduled for the beginning of the season. Parents and athletes are encouraged to ask questions at any time.
