The internet is such an integral part of children's lives these days. It opens up so many educational and social opportunities, giving them access to, quite literally, a world of information and experiences.  In school we teach our children how and why it is important to use the internet safely.  A valuable website we have found is the Think You Know website which contains advice, activities and videos to promote safety whilst online.  Please use the link below to find out more.

During ICT in classes we use a number of websites and programmes we have dowloaded.  Many children have expressed an interest in accessing these websites and programmes so we have included a quick link for your convenience. All the downloadable programmes have proved to be valuable learning tools and have to date run trouble free on our school computers.  All the children are advised during their ICT lessons that permission should be granted by a parent or guardian when downloading anything to a computer at home.

  The puzzling caret website - used in Classes 3 and 5 in our work on computer simulations and modelling.

  Pivot - an animation programme used across Key Stage 2

  We use a programme called Tux Typing within the school to practise and improve our keyboard skills. You can also download Tux Maths and Tux Paint too.

 Scratch is an animation programme we are just begining to use in Class 6 to extend the skills in animation we have developed using Pivot.

  We use google Sketch up in Class 5 as part of our work on graphical modelling.

TIMES TABLES

Learning multiplication is an essential part of children’s education. Students who have mastered multiplication gain a solid foundation in mathematics that will help them throughout their school life and beyond.

Just like learning to walk before you can run, learning multiplication and the times tables are building blocks for other math topics taught in school.

There are many resources available to help with this process, workbooks, CD Roms and websites. Finding ones that your child enjoys is often the key to success (along with practice). The final link is to an excel spreadsheet we use in school for times tables work. Just download the file. Each tab has a set of times table questions, ordered, reverse order and muddled up. If the question is answered correctly a smiley face appears, if it's incorrect - a sad face! Simply print or save for a record of achievement
