Silver Eco Award:  All the children's efforts have been recognised and rewarded by the gaining of the Silver Standard for Eco-awareness and action.  It is a great achievementment and everyone is very proud of this success.   The Learning Mentors, staff, Eco-Team and the School Council have worked so hard in raising the issues of eco-awareness throughout the school.  Various groups of children have been responsible for re-cycling paper, saving energy, keeping the site clear of litter and growing vegetables.  A lot of hard work, time and fun has gone into this project, so we are delighted to have gained the award.  Well done to everyone.

School closures: If the school ever has to close at short notice, especially during bad weather, then national curriculum work can be found via the school website e.g. class maths and spelling, fun numeracy and literacy games. There are also links to the BBC schools programmes which in turn link to the national curriculum. Y6 & Y5 children have individual passwords that link them into the 'My Learning' VLE site on the website ~ this site contains SATs practice work and focused Year work in all subjects.

Home/School communication:  We now have in place a parents/carers text message service which will alert all adults about events, information, etc in a more efficient and effective manner.  Obviously if families wish to take part in this service it will be vitally important that the office have up to date landline and mobile numbers.  Please keep us informed, so we can keep you informed!

Reading Partners  Reading is the key to unlocking life long learning.  The sooner a child becomes a confident reader - the sooner rapid educational progress can be made in all curriculum areas.  Initially we want all adults to read with their children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces ~ it can be a family event!  However, we do have some children in school who would greatly benefit from the support of a reading partner in school.  Can you help? Can you give the odd half-hour to hear a young child read?

Please contact Mrs Jennings in Y2 or Mrs Watson (Senco) to find out more about becoming a reading partner.

Police Alert:  Please be aware that the local police have been handing out fixed penalty fines of £30 to members of the school community who are illegally parked around the local area.
