Christian Malcolm Visits Rangeworthy Primary School!

There was high excitement at Rangeworthy on Thursday 20th May, when Christain Malcolm, 200m olympic sprinter joined us for the afternoon.

(see below to read all about it)

The children had been looking forward to meeting Christian ever since it was announced that he was to be our special sporting celebrity for our sponsored Team Superschool Event.

The children have been busy researching about Christian's achievements in the athletic world, making posters and thinking of questions that they would like to ask him.

Each class came out to have their photographs taken with Christian before taking part in their fitness session. It was hard work! The fitness regime included sit ups, press ups, star jumps and 'spotty dogs'. Fortunately, Les Antoine was leading the session to ensure that everyone was doing the exercises carefully and encouraging them to keep going!

The afternoon was nicely rounded off with Christian giving us an inspirational talk about how his athletic career. He spoke about how hard he trains and his motivation to keep improving. It was fascinating to hear him talk about his experiences of the Beijing Olympics and of course, racing against Usain Bolt!

Many starstruck children took their chance to get Christian's autograph before he had to leave.

We wish Christian all the best in his future races and will hopefully be cheering him on at the next Olympic games in 2012!
