Our school

St. Stephen’s Infant School is part of South Gloucestershire Education Authority.

We are a Local Authority Infant School for boys and girls aged 4-7 years. We have the capacity for an intake of 90 children per year group.

The three Foundation Stage classes share a large resource area where structured practical work such as sand, water play and art and design activities takes place. We also have a covered “outside classroom” where the children work and play.

Our three Year 1 classes are based in an annex and the three Year 2 classes are based in the main building.

We are very lucky at St. Stephen’s to have large areas for children to play at morning playtime and at lunchtime. The children are able to choose from a wide range of activities at playtimes including:

  • football, cricket or hockey in the fenced off Sports’ Area
  • using the timber ‘Trim Trail’
  • playing on the climbing frame/slide in the small playground
  • magnetic wall games
  • giant ‘Connect 4’
  • playing hopscotch and on the other markings
  • skipping
  • sitting in the ‘Chill Out’ area
  • riding on the bikes and scooters

Our team of Lunchtime Supervisors are committed to ensuring that

All children have ‘Happy and Safe’ playtimes.
