Headteacher's Welcome

A very warm welcome to Ridge Hill Primary School!   We hope that our new website will give first time visitors a real flavour of the atmosphere at Ridge Hill, as well as providing parents and other visitors with lots of information about school events, policies and day to day life.   The website is also a great place for our children to keep up to date with what is happening at school through their class pages and our fantastic Kidzone.  So there really is something for everyone!

You may be wondering about our our lighthouse!  We don't live near the sea, so what's its significance?  Well, at Ridge Hill we want everyone to shine!   We believe that our school is a guiding light that shines to show children the path to success.   We believe that every child has a gift or talent and that they should be encouraged to share that gift or talent and by doing so encourage others to do the same.

Ridge Hill is a school that opens doors for children.   From the very beginning in the Foundation Stage, right through until children leave for high school we provide children with unforgettable experiences that open doors to the wider world, leaving them itching to know more and eager to learn, inspiring them to achieve great things and become great citizens.   Building the best possible future for the community in which they live.

We believe that education is about children experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems, being creative in the art of writing, art and music, developing their self-confidence as learners and maturing socially and emotionally, combining high expectations with a broad and enriched curriculum ensuring that education is a fusion of excellence and enjoyment.

We believe that children learn best when they are excited and actively engaged, when there is joy in what they are doing and they love learning.  Literacy and Numeracy are the backbone of children's learning, with a strong emphasis on ICT as a cross curricular tool, which both stimulates and facilitates learning at all levels.  Encouraging children to take and interest in the natural world, to be proactive in protecting the environment and to understand the impact of our everyday lives on the world around them, empowers them to make a genuine difference.

By providing children with a safe, secure and sustainable environment in which they are encouraged to take risks in their learning and where mistakes and errors are not seen as stumbling blocks but as vital stepping stones to unlocking success, we enable them to grow in confidence and character.
