Welburn Hall is a North Yorkshire County Council maintained special school with a growing reputation for excellence in working with children and young people who have a wide range of special educational needs. We offer individualised learning and flexible boarding options for pupils aged 8 to 19 years, with a wide range of physical disabilities or learning difficulties.

This website will help you find out more about Welburn Hall and the pupils who attend. You will be able to learn about how we strive to provide the very best in education and care. Read about our dedicated staff, fantastic facilities, beautiful buildings, strong governance, policies and procedures. Of course, you are more than welcome to come and see us yourself, our door is always open to parents/carers - current and prospective.

Staff in the Spotlight ...

Read how diverse, varied and interesting our staff team are, thereby providing such positive role models for our pupils and giving such a warm welcome to our school community for visitors. This term we feature Carole Pye, School Secretary, the first point of contact for many parents and callers.

Learning for Living

The development of practical everyday life skills is an essential part of learning to be independent, feeling confident in the community and helps to increase self-esteem. Read about why our Life Skills Programme is increasingly popular with parents and pupils.

Thank You for Our New Minibus

On 15 May 2013, we were thrilled to take delivery of our brand new, specially adapted mini bus. This was provided by the Lord’s Taverners charity (with a generous donation from the Home School Association).

“We could not deliver our broad-based, exciting and innovative curriculum without our minibuses.  I can guarantee this new one will be put to good use for the positive benefit our pupils and students.  A huge thank you to the Lord’s Taverners charity and to our own Home School Association.”  Hazel Smith, Headteacher.

We all say thank you
