School Jotter of the Week: Parley First School

Published: June 20, 2014

It’s always nice when a school opts for an out-of-the-ordinary website design. Parley First School in Dorset have gone for a website design that’s different to any website we have designed and produced in recent memory.

On this wonderfully topsy-turvy website, the sky is yellow and the website is bordered by pear trees. Pear trees! Behind the fun, eye-catching website however, this is an extremely well put-together school website, and here’s why.

It’s a great website for engaging parents. Parley First School have gone for a newsfeed on the right hand side – the Newsflash section you can see in the image above. This helps to instantly inform parents of important news and information. There’s also a link to an online payment system for parents – ideal for things like school trips and charity donations.

It will help to inspire the pupils. The Children section details key dates, and topics children will cover in each class. On the Homepage there’s a link to Espresso, ideal for homework tasks and keeping pupils engaged in learning after the end of the school day.

Prospective parents will find it useful. As well as the vital Ofsted-required information, from contact details to curriculum information, simple additions (which are quick and easy to add using School Jotter) like the Gallery give prospective parents a feel for the ethos of the school.

Webanywhere is currently running a school website offer. Get in touch and see how you can revamp your school website for less in time for September here.
