School Jotter of the Week: Picknalls First School

Published: March 14, 2014

Last week, we asked School Jotter users whether they felt their website was worthy of the School Jotter of the Week title.
We were delighted with the response – it appears there are many schools out there who are not only proud of their school’s website, but actively keep it up to date on a regular basis. This is Picknalls First School, the first School Jotter user to respond.
The Uttoxeter-based school’s ICT Technician, Angela Derry, explained to us that they wanted to improve communication with parents, and so upgraded from their first-generation School Jotter site to a new School Jotter 2 solution.

“It’s given us the tools to keep in touch with parents in lots of different ways. The School Updates app, a Twitter feed and the calendars have made it possible for parents to choose how to stay up-to-date with school events,” says Angela.
The website also complies with Ofsted’s school website requirements – with everything from PE/Sports funding information to curriculum details included. “The games or activities in the year group pages are also used during lessons as warm ups or plenaries meaning that the website is useful to everyone involved in our school,” adds Angela.
The school has also chosen a fantastic website design – as you can see from the picture above. It portrays a primary school that is both serious about learning and achieving – and understand that a school website needs to be easy for parents to navigate around. Well done Picknalls!
